The ever inventive Diva gave us a lovely challenge this week: To incorporate the Chinese New Year into our tile.
The Diva bravely posted her first attempt at the challenge even though she wasn't happy with how it turned out. She's a better woman than I. The one I'm posting here is my 2nd attempt. I ruined the first one beyond salvation.
The Chinese character in the center means 2015 -- at least that's what Google Translate says. I have to take their word for it. My apologies to any scribes out there if I made any mistake in drawing it. Hope I didn't accidentally say something else altogether like WTF!!!
2015 is the Year of the Goat or Sheep, so I used those big curvaceous rams horns as my inspiration. I added a hint of blue to the horns because apparently some Zodiac followers say 2015 is specifically the Blue Wood Goat year.
Fireworks (CO2 by Antonine Megger) and lanterns (Bulb Lantern by Livia Chua) fill the sky. With their heart-like petals, these flower shapes reminded me of primrose, which the Chinese astrologers say is the lucky flower for people who are born in a year of the goat. I don't know if that's a copyrighted pattern or not.
