Joey's weekly tangle is on letter J this week. Her tile included a string j and Suzanne McNeill’s Jjelly Roll. I added Mooka (z), Hanny Waldburger’s Fleavy, and Jenna Black’s Starcrossed. Follow Joey's challenges here. Not a big fan of this one.
Joey's weekly alphabet "finish my tile" challenge is up to letter I. Her initial tile includes an I and the Zentangle (R) pattern Icanthus. Had to say I wasn't a fan of the look of Icanthus, that is until I drew it. Then it just came to life. I really like it. Probably won't use it too often, but it's good.
I also added: Anita Aspfors Westin’s Natti. Karry Heun’s Sand Swirl and Margaret McKerihan’spattern: Veezy Check out Joey's weekly challenge here. This week we are on letter G and Gnarley by Barbara Finwall

First time in about a year I've completed a challenge. Joey challenges us to work with the tangle pattern El Prado by Maria Tovar. I filled the lower case e with ST-rap by Pam Lee and added the Zentangle(r) pattern Diva Dance. You can see more about this challenge here.
Joey is up to the letter S in her series of alphabet monotangle challenges. She's chosen the pattern Striping by Sandy Bartholomew. Learn more and see other submissions here.
Joey said to have fun with it. I can't say this pattern is particularly fun...UNTIL it's time to shade. Then all that time you spent filling in the stripes becomes worth it. That's where the magic is. I started with String 178 (tanglepatterns.com). I had watched a youtube video on Striping in which the artist just started with a blank page - no strings or boundaries. But I couldn't quite pull that off, so I found using a string was much easier. Now that it's completed, I've got several other ideas how I could have made better use of foreground/background areas. There's no time to explore them right now but that's the advantage of these challenges. It gives you an opportunity to work with patterns you may never have tried before and learn new insights you will apply in future works. Thanks Joey and thanks for posting your "mistake." May all your mistakes turn out so wonderfully! Joey is up to the letter R in her series of alphabet monotangle challenges. She's chosen the pattern Rosewood by molussus. I intertwined two squares of Rosewood. I think it turned out pretty well. |
