This week's Diva challenge is to be inspired by Beads of Courage. We could use beads as inspiration for our string, or for inspiration for our tangles, or perhaps be inspired by someone who is being particularly strong and courageous right now.
The Diva explained: "Beads of Courage is an Arts in Medicine that supports kids with chronic or life threatening illnesses and their families. These kids are amazing. And they more often than not have to deal with a lot on a daily basis. They see a lot of doctors, and on this program instead of getting a sticker or a lollipop for getting a needle or an X-Ray, or a test of some kind, they'd get a glass bead to represent that part of their medical journey....Some of the things you can collect beads for are: Needle pokes, overnight stays in hospital, isolation, mobility challenges like bed rest or casting, hair changes, tube insertions or removals, therapies, doctors appointments, surgeries, xrays, ultrasounds, infusions, radiation, oxygen/respiratory support, procedures."
I was inspired by those around the world who are being persecuted for their faith. If you're not following the stories, you may be completely unaware of the many many Christians who are killed in gruesome ways every day because they believe in Christ. But it's not just Christians...martyrdom at the hands of zealots is changing the landscape in many countries.
My tile doesn't represent any particular nation or religion or anything...They were just in my heart as I drew.
I wish you could see this tile in person because I used gold paint on the oval "beads" of Linked by Vicki Murray.
I also used Snugz by Terri Brown,
Nipa (z(r) ) and
some different Beadlines by Margaret Bremner.
