I was in a tough spot with this challenge! Suzy Mosh's "It's New To Me" Challenge is to use a new-to-me pattern that begins with the letter X and to include a pattern by Judy Murphy.
Well, I had done almost all the X patterns I could find already. The only ones I hadn't used were ones I really didn't like. The one I disliked the most is the one I chose - XYP (Zentangle (r)). Way too messy for me. But every time I've looked at it in the past I've always thought of my blue argyle sweater. So I decided to use little stitch details on it like on my sweater.
Then, when I looked at Murphy's patterns, I noticed BLANKETT. Well, of course that reminded me of a blanket. So, I was on a textile theme!
I started with String 19 (tanglepatterns.com) and commenced to making a Crazy Quilt. Every good quilt needs a border, so that's where I put ole' XYP. Then I filled in the rest of the areas with swatches of fabrics in lots of colors. Patterns I used in my swatches were Blankett, Kiss by Katie Booth, Wisket by Sandra Strait, YAF by Sandy Steen Bartholomew. I also added a paisley piece and some stripes.
Then I joined them all together with a little cross stitch (Hey! another X!!).
Well, so here is 3 hours of my life, not counting all the time I spent desperately searching for some other X pattern and all the time I spent trying to whip XYP into shape before I got started.
Thanks Suzy. I look forward to seeing what everyone else has done with this challenge.
