The Diva made it difficult for me this week with "DuoTangle: Chebucto vs Copada," two tangles I'd never tried before. Copada wasn't hard, but honestly these types of patterns (petal-like constructions that come to a point) are the bane of my tangling existence. Not that they aren't pretty. But I can hardly ever figure out where to go after I've drawn them. I can decorate their interiors, but how do I build outward from them? I can just keep layering more "petals" behind them but I'd usually like to take my image somewhere different. Oh well, I guess I'll eventually get the hang of it.
But when faced with this challenge, I decided to turn the pointy little devil petals inward on themselves. I thought maybe they would all touch in the middle, but I ended up with a really cool looking circle with embellishments along the inner rim. Then I just added bunches of orbs in the empty spaces.
Then I approached the Chebucto and boy was I disappointed with my results. I couldn't get straight lines no matter how many times I practiced. So I asked "why fight it?" I put Chebucto in a curve around that beautiful rim I had just created. Ta da! I love the look.
Thanks Diva. I learned a lot this week. Check out Diva's page @ http://iamthedivaczt.blogspot.com/
