After I looked at everyone else's submissions for Joey's Challenge #79 (Pea-Nuckle monotangle) I read The Yorkshire Tortoise comment where she referred to Ellen Wolters video instructions (www.youtube.com/watch?v=nl6PIr-2vT0) After I watched it, I had to give Pea-Nuckle another try.
I used string 148 (tanglepatterns.com) and drew some Pea-Nuckles on curved lines, some on straight, some Laced-styled. OK - now I'm done. Over at Joey's Challenge, we're up to the letter P. Joey chose the pattern Pea-Knuckle by Molly Hollibaugh.
On my first stab, I drew Pea-Knuckle on a wavy graph. It turned out looking a little too messy for my taste, but the red background sure helped. I used an 05 micron to draw the S shapes and the 01 for the lines. I decided to try another tile, this time keeping my rows of S's straight. I like how it turned out. I also drew it a bit bigger because I used a Sakura Gelly Roll and you can't good results on fine details with the Gelly Roll. Thanks Joey for all you do. Marching through the alphabet...Joey's weekly challenge is up to the letter M. This week she chose Maryhill by Betsy Wilson. I absolutely love Maryhill and am glad she chose it.
I used a the Zendala Dare #5 template by Erin K Olson at thebrightowl.blogspot.com and Maryhilled away. We're up to letter L in Joey's weekly monotangle challenges. For L, she chose Lara Williams’s LinQ.
Well, a mishap last week with Suzy Mosh's Tangle Me 3 Challenge left me with a LinQ monotangle tile without a Challenge home. Tangle Me 3 requires the original and 2 variations in a monotangle. I guess I just got carried away with how it was turning out when I put LinQ in a circle, that I forgot about variations. Then I didn't have the heart to try to squeeze in some, so I just came up with another tile altogether for Suzy. Now this tangle has a home!! Thanks Joey. Visit Joey's page here. We're up to letter K in Joey's weekly monotangle challenges. For K, she chose Marieke van Nimwegen's Kozy.
I adore Kozy. It's a little labor intensive, but so worth it! Visit Joey's page here -- and thanks again for the challenge! We're up to letter J in Joey's weekly monotangle challenges. For J, she chose Margaret Bremmer's Jemz.
Well, after spending an evening practicing the grid-based pattern, I realized no amount of practicing was going to improve my workmanship. So I took elements of it for a border and then I took the individual Jemz out of their grid and scattered them out in the middle. Yes, if you have any doubt, emeralds are my favorite gems. Visit Joey's page here -- and thanks again for the challenge! We're up to letter I in Joey's weekly monotangle challenges. For I, she chose Carole Ohl's lovely Inapod.
I scanned it before and after the shading. I thought shading would put me "over the moon" on this one, but I kinda think the "flat" version is striking. So I'm neutral about which I prefer here. Visit Joey's page here -- and thanks again for the challenge! We're up to letter H in Joey's weekly monotangle challenges. For H, she chose Hollibaugh.
I used Anneke van Dam's pattern Brix Box as my string and put several variation of Hollibaugh in each box. I like the way it turned out. Visit Joey's page here -- and thanks again for the challenge! Joey's weekly challenge is another of her monotangle challenges. We're up to the letter G. Joey chose Girdy by Karl Stewart. I've made 3 variations.
